In Moto3, the Spanish Acosta wins the Moto3 championship a race before the end. The riders of the Honda team Asia powered by Mivv don’t catch points. Yuki Kunii and Andi Farid Izdihar could not maintain the pace they had shown during the weekend and finished the Algarve GP in a backward position. The next week, the 2021 season will close with the race of Valencia.
Yuki Kunii #92 -20
“At the beginning of the race, I was struggling but maintaining a stable position on the group. Also, the lap time was good. But I made a mistake on braking, going wide on the turn one. There I lost contact with the group, but I had a good pace riding alone; this is the positive point of today. I’ve been getting confident during the weekend, but we must analyse why some practices were excellent, and others were bad. The next race will be the last of the season, and I’ll try to do my best and to enjoy.”
Andi Farid Izdihar #19-22
“After a good weekend in Misano, we arrived here, and I can say this race wasn’t easy. These days I feel very well; I miss the Q2 just for a small mistake. The consequence was a bad position on the grid, and, starting from the back, everything is more difficult because you need to try to overtake many riders. But, despite this, I’ve seen some positive things that we will try to apply next weekend in Valencia.”
Hiroshi Aoyama – Team Manager
“About our riders, the start was correct, but after a couple of laps, Yuki lost some positions. From that point, he was struggling a lot, making one big mistake after which he lost concentration, missing the group. Andi felt good at the beginning of the race, but from the middle to the end, his tire dropped a lot, and he couldn’t manage his pace. Both riders have made their comments, but to be realistic, they should be more in front. Let’s see in Valencia how can we make the last race.”
