Honda Team Asia completed the tenth round of the 2026 Moto3 World Championship at the iconic TT Circuit Assen, where both Veda Ega Pratama and Zen Mitani displayed encouraging speed throughout the weekend despite a disappointing race outcome.
Friday’s sessions were held in extremely hot conditions, making adaptation to the demanding Dutch circuit particularly challenging. Veda Pratama ended the day in 23rd after a crash during Practice prevented him from completing his final time attack, while Mitani made solid progress by improving from 23rd in the morning to 19th in the afternoon.
The team confirmed its competitiveness on Saturday. Pratama secured an excellent seventh place on the grid with a lap of 1’40.690, bouncing back strongly after Friday’s crash. Mitani also improved his performance, qualifying 20th after finishing sixth in Q1.
Sunday’s race, however, brought disappointment for both riders. Starting from seventh, Pratama made a brilliant launch and quickly joined the fight at the front, climbing as high as second place and battling for victory before crashing at Turn 4. Despite the retirement, the Indonesian rookie demonstrated race-winning pace throughout the weekend.
Mitani also enjoyed an impressive start from 20th on the grid, gaining several positions and moving into 17th before crashing on Lap 2. The Japanese rookie experienced some discomfort in his hand following the incident, and his condition will be monitored ahead of the next round.
Although the race did not reward the team’s strong performance, Honda Team Asia leaves Assen with positive signs from both riders’ pace and continued development.
The Moto3 World Championship now heads to the Sachsenring for Round 11 in two weeks’ time.
MOTO3: VEDA EGA PRATAMA #9
Grid P7-Race DNF
Today’s race was a disaster because I couldn’t finish, so I’m very disappointed. After such a good weekend and with such a good feeling, it is difficult to accept this result. But I also take the positive side because the feeling with the bike was really good. I was able to fight with the leaders, fight for the front positions and show my potential. Maybe I need to be a little bit smarter during the race and manage some situations better. The crash was also my mistake, so I will take the lesson from today. Of course, I’m disappointed, but I know we have the speed and confidence. I will come back stronger in Germany.
MOTO3: ZEN MITANI #32
Grid P20- Race DNF
Today was very unfortunate. I made a good start and was fighting inside the group close to the points, so the feeling was positive. Unfortunately, I crashed early in the race and I couldn’t finish. I’m sorry for the team because everyone worked very hard this weekend. Now we need to check my hand and see how it is in the next days. I will focus on recovering and coming back stronger for the next race
HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager
After three days here in Assen, today’s result was very different compared with yesterday. The conditions also changed after the heavy rain during the night, and the track feeling was different. Both riders had some difficulties with the sliding during the race.
During the first part of the race, both riders did a very good job. Veda was fighting at the front positions, and Mitani was also recovering many places from P20 into the middle of the group.
Unfortunately, in the middle of the race Veda crashed at Turn 4, and then Mitani also crashed at Turns 10 and 11. Neither rider could rejoin the race, so it was a very stressful and disappointing result for us. Also, Mitani suffered some pain in his hand after the crash, so this was not the way we wanted to finish the weekend. This is racing, and sometimes these situations happen. We are disappointed, but we have to learn from our mistakes and come back stronger at the next race in Germany. Thanks to all our sponsors and supporters for their continued support.
