Corridas

Good weekend for the Honda Asia Team with Mario Aji able to get the first row in the qualifying practice of Saturday in wet conditions.
In a dry race, the Indonesian rookie was fighting for more than half of the race with the fastest riders of the class, finishing 16th, 19 thousandths of a second away from scoring a point.
Furusato, who had missed the pre-season test at Portimao, rode for the first time in the dry, gaining precious experience for the future.
Honda & Mivv are happy about the improvements of their young Asian riders.

MOTO3: MARIO SURYO AJI #64
Grid P2 – Race P16

A tough race for me, but there have been many positive things this weekend. Maybe the final position doesn’t reflect it, but I’m pleased with our work. At the beginning of the race, I stayed with the front group; it was my first time fighting with them. But in the second part of the race, the rear tire dropped a lot because I pushed too hard in the corners. I repeat I’m happy; we keep working on a big handicap that we need to fix. We will be more often in front; we need time.

MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid P30 – Race P25

Today I enjoyed a lot on the race, after a complicated weekend. This morning, I rode in Portimao on the dry track for the first time. After three crashes during the weekend, it wasn’t easy to push, finding the limits on dry. There have been a lot of first times this weekend. First time here, my first-time riding on wet. As experienced, it’s hard, but at the same time, it’s fantastic. It will help me a lot for the next rounds.

Hiroshi Aoyama – Team Manager

We’ve had a dry race after a weekend full of rain. Mario started from 2nd, and the lack of dry sessions prevented him from fighting with the top riders. Despite that, he was fighting to score points, doing his best, as well as Taiyo. Both need more experience. For the rookies, this kind of weekend, so unpredictable, doesn’t help them. Let’s see in Jerez next week.
