Sixteenth round of the season this weekend at Phillip Island circuit. Both Furusato and Aji visit the Australian track for the second time, aware of facing one of the most demanding appointments on the calendar.
Track conditions during the first sessions are not excellent and Tayio and Mario find some difficulties due to the lack of grip.
In the qualifying their lap time improves but it’s not enough and they both start from delayed positions.
The Moto3 race is held in complicated weather conditions: wet, cold, and terribly windy. Both riders of the Honda team Asia, supported by MIVV, start well from the back of the grid gaining many positions. Furusato manages to stay on track and finishes in a brilliant seventh position. For his part, Mario is fighting for podium places until his helmet visor fogs up making him lose clear vision of the track. He finally crashes and is forced to retire.
Next stop Thailand, at Chang International Circuit, for the last round of the Asian triplet.

Grid P23– Race DNF
What a pity! I did a fantastic start and first lap today, gaining 15 positions. I was doing a good race before I lost concentration because my bike and visor’s screen fogged up. I couldn’t see the way and where were the patches. That frustrated me so much. Without these issues, I’m sure I had options to fight for the podium because I was in the top group. Unfortunately, I crashed. I cannot describe it with words, my frustration. But I take it as a lesson.

I’m happy about my race here in Phillip Island. I struggled a bit this weekend because I’ve been doing the practices riding alone, without slipstreams. But the conditions today have changed radically. I tried to finish the race at my pace. P7 is more than I expected in these wet conditions

The weather conditions we’ve found today in Phillip Island were complicated: cold, rain and strong wind. But the race was going on. Our riders did a good start, Mario P8 and Taiyo P10, after one lap, after starting from the back of the grid. They had a good pace on the wet. Until mid-race, Mario was fighting for a podium. We’re sure today was his day, but unfortunately, he crashed on lap 11. We’re sad about that because he had clear options for a podium. Taiyo managed to finish P7. To finish in such a complicated condition isn’t easy. I think it was one of the most challenging races of the year, but finally, we managed to be there.
