Racing

Last of the three races in a row for the MotoGP circus before the summer break. This weekend we are in Assen, “the Cathedral of Speed”. After the good performance at Sachsenring, both riders of the Honda Team Asia Moto3, feel confident on the Dutch circuit aiming to start holidays with a good result on track. Hot temperatures and wind work against Taiyo and Mario during the first day. Despite they both feel comfortable on their bike, they don’t go as fast as expected and this also compromises their qualifying, both starting away from the front places. In the race Furusato fights for points with a big group of riders. In the end, he finishes 17th, but just one second off 11th position. Aji has a good pace and does his best to recover positions but starting from the back penalizes him and he crosses the finishing line 23rd. Now it’s time for a break to recharge batteries. The Championship will come back on track the first weekend of August at Silverstone.

MOTO3: MARIO SURYO AJI #64
Grid P24– Race P23

A tough race, but I did a good race. My pace was fast, but I struggled on left turns during the race. I started the weekend too slow but worked to recover the rhythm. Now we have five weeks to rest. I will keep working hard. I look forward to seeing you in Silverstone.

MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid P18– Race P17

I made a good start, gaining some positions and fighting with the group. With a better place on the grid, without the problem we suffered yesterday, we could have had an option for a better result. But sometimes this thing happens. I’m happy to finish the race and have been fighting again for points. Now, we often go to Q2, and this shows an improvement. I hope this will continue after the summer break.

HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager

It has been a very long race. Our three riders fought all the laps, finishing it. Taiyo finished in a brilliant 10th, scoring his first points of the season. Mario fought as well to score points, but he finally finished 19th. About his first experience of Tatchakorn in GP’s, he has managed to finish 25th. I would say that we had a good race, a good weekend. We are happy about our progress, but we would like to be even better next week.
