The partnership between MIVV and HONDA, to raise young Asian talents in the World Championship, continues into 2022.
The Honda Asia Team, managed by Hiroshi Aoyama, lines up two really very young riders, both rookies in the class Moto3 but the Championship will start tomorrow on the Qatari track of Losail with only a rider of the team.

Mario Suryo Aji is a 17 years old rider coming from Madiun (Indonesia) and faces his World Championship debut with high hopes after the good wild card of the last year in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

His team-mate Taiyo Furusato is a 16 years old Japan rider coming from the winning of the Asia Talent Cup. Last year, this very young talent rider won the the race of the Red Bull rookies cup at Mugello, in Italy, without ever having seen the track before. Unfortunately we have to wait for his debut because he has been recovering from his right ankle injury, a fracture suffered during private tests in Jerez.

MARIO SURYO AJI #64

“I am looking forward to my first Grand Prix race in Qatar. The last time I raced there was in 2018 when I raced in the Asia Talent Cup. I have a nice memory because it was my first race in the series, and I finished second. It’s always been one of my dreams to race in the World Championships, and now it’s come true. Losail is a corner-speed circuit, and I like this kind of riding. I will keep pushing and keep learning, always progressing in every session. I am so excited for my first World Championship race – I can’t wait!”

Hiroshi Aoyama – Team Manager

“We are in Qatar, the scenario of the first round of the 2022 season. Since last December we’ve been working preparing the new bikes. We’ve done eight days of testing, so I think we’re quite ready to start the new season with Chantra, Ogura and the rookie’s Aji and Furusato. Unfortunately, Taiyo is in a recovery process after an injury to his right ankle, and he will miss his first Grand Prix. The rest of the riders are ready to start, and we very much see looking forward to the start of the season in Qatar.”
