The MotoGP circus comes back to Europe, at Jerez de la Frontera, one of the most traditional races of the season.
Hot temperatures welcomed the Honda Team Asia riders on the Andalusian track making their first approach on the track very hard due to the lack of grip.
After starting from the back of the grid, Taiyo and Mario tried to recover as many positions as possible. Furusato crossed the finishing line 16th while Aji was 19th.
The motivation is still high for both riders and they will try again in two weeks at Le Mans.

MOTO3: MARIO SURYO AJI #64
Grid P26– Race P19

The result is different from what I expected. I couldn’t ride the bike as I had wanted since the beginning, but we will solve the problem. I apologize to the team; I couldn’t make a good race like in the Americas. We will maintain the motivation to recover from this situation at Le Mans.

MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid P23– Race P16

This weekend I’ve gone a step ahead. I’m happy about my progression in general. Except for Q1, where I struggled, the rest of the practices have been positive, riding alone and learning. I know I need to learn how to manage the fight in the group. I tried to improve the first lap in the race to catch the group. I’ve been with them until the last two laps, when my tire dropped dramatically. My pace was much better than I expected. I’m happy about that, and about the fact I overtook on the brakes, I couldn’t do it before.

HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager

A long race, 19 laps, with many fights and changes of positions. Taiyo has finished so close to scoring points. It’s a pity because his best lap time was close to the top riders. That’s important because he showed a clear step ahead. About Mario, we expected to see him with Taiyo or even better. But he couldn’t show his potential today. All of us must improve, team and rider, but we believe in him; we know he can do much better than this. We will continue supporting him and keep working for the next race.
